Launching an international OTT strategy

Televisa launches Blim in order to retain subscribers with exclusive Spanish speaking content on its own On-Demand platform.

• Customer background
Blim is the streaming platform of the Televisa Group. Released in Q1 2016, the service is available for all of Latin America. It offers original series, telenovelas, animation and international content.
After Televisa witnessed the growing success of Netflix compared to cable television, they decided to withdraw all of the Televisa content from Netflix and create Blim, a “Netflix like” SVOD platform, with the goal of keeping subscribers on their own platform.

• How it began with Spideo
In 2014, Spideo met the Veo team at the IBC (International Broadcasting Convention). Veo Play was the former digital entertainment platform of Televisa. 
Personalization and discovery were new topics for them and they were testing all the solutions on the market. After a year, Veo became Blim. Timing was perfect to reach new objectives for their User Experience and the relevance of content recommendation. Full integration was done in 6 weeks. Blim could provide a fully personalized UI to each customer using Spideo’s engagement solutions and get to monitor the performance of these features thanks to the Spideo Analytics platform.
